There are some few where you can see the images only at Family History Centers near you. (Indiana is one state) W David Samuelsen

    3. Hello Everyone, This is an invitation to join the new Groups.io group - [PAARMSTR] - which I have setup to replace the [PAARMSTR] Rootsweb mailing list. . I hope this to be a platform to continue the connections, communications, and research that we all have enjoyed for so many years at Rootsweb. Since Richard Berkheiser stated that he would not be pursuing a transfer of the [PAARMSTR] List to Groups.io, I took the initiative to do so. I have no agenda other than not to lose the [PABUTLER] List as a resource in my genealogy research. I hope we can use this platform to link back to the Rootsweb Archives and continue in are mutual pursuits. I want to express nothing but appreciation for all of Richard Berkheiser's time and efforts in administrating the [PABUTLER] List at Rootsweb. If you have questions about this invitation, send them to patrick_schmitt@hotmail.com. To accept the invitation, please follow this link: https://groups.io/g/PAARMSTR If you are not interested, or this is not your email address, please ignore this email. 1. [PAARMSTR] Moderator Rick and ALL / Thanks
    2. Connie Oberholser
    3. Rick, your last explanation makes things more clear to me. Thank you. I think the biggest drawback for me was that I did use Rootsweb message Boards on ancestry but they didn't notify when there was a reply and one Forgets all the messages they sent. Esp when someone doesn't reply for a year It was hard to know that. If one has four sur names to follow it was possible. But Ten got impossible. IS THERE ANY way that Ancestry can improve to the point They will give notice to the reply messages back to the person who posted it. Also, When people used the Pa roots one FELT like they were addressing and finding local people who might know more as they were Local and county related. One got better responses than on the wider lists. That can be overcome in time. Thanks everyone for being willing to dig up data for me or share from your first-hand knowledge for past 11 yrs. At both Jefferson and Lycoming lists I found (or they found me) entire branches of my Swarts family of Jersey Shore, who were for years searching and In the dark as to the existence of our William Swarts. They didn't know about ancestry boards per se. 3. Hi all, Referring to previous post on PAcentre =========== I think Groups.io is definitely the way to go. A mailing list or forum is a huge undertaking to moderate (or even just keep a loose eye on) and I'm a firm believer in pitching in when I chime in with an opinion so I'm throwing myself under the bus and when the decision of where this list/the defunct-APG list should go is made I'll be happy to help with...anything really. Thanks! Danni Altman-Newell On Tue, Jan 7, 2020 at 3:56 PM Michelle Chubenko wrote: > I, too, am a member of four mailing lists which migrated to Groups.io > last month and I love the format. There are also paid upgrade options available, too. I have never used it, but I thought the extensive discussion going on in that group would be helpful for others still reeling from the news. Wes Baker I am now Wondering: Is there any way for all the current PA lists under Rootsweb to coordinate And go under the GROUP.io under the name familiar to us all like PAROOTS? I am not sure I understand the GROUP.io but began reading <https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home> https://groups.io/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/home and sounds like a lot to understand but workable. Am I assuming to think most of us use many of the PA Roots boards and not Just the one we live in. I would be nice to have ONE place to go to for them All once again. Thank you Wes and Justin for bringing this forward for us all to be aware of. Connie

    3. I believe Stephen’s father, Nicholas, migrated from Lucerne County. There is a John Rhoads there in 1800.Samuel Rhoads lived in Venango County in 1810. Clarion was partially drawn from Venango. BTW, Stephen’s namesake might have been the noted revolutionary, Colonel Stephen Balliet. 1. [PAARMSTR] BOYD Family photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Frank BOYD which was taken at the Emerson Studio in Alexandria, IN sometime in the early 1900's. Frank appears to be in his 30's at the time the photograph was taken. He is indicated as the son of Charles and Anna BOYD and the brother of Magdalena BOYD. There is some additional writing on the back regarding "copper plate" and "96 1/2 inches wide". Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Frank and his family: Frank Theobald BOYD was b. 11 Dec 1904 in Leechburg, PA to parents Charles Beunaire or Beaunaire BOYD (1876-1943) and Anna Louise THEOBALD (1876-1912). Frank was one of three children born to this couple including, Emma Augusta Louise; Magdalena or Madalena Florence; and Frank Theobald BOYD, all born between 1898 and 1904. Frank married Sarah Gertrude PORCH (1906-1983) and he died 29 Jun 1997 in Louisville, KY. Census records provide the following details: 1910 census of Pittsburgh, PA: Charles B. BOYD, age 34, 1st marriage 12 years, born PA, parents born PA, a Dept Store Window Trimmer Anna L. BOYD, wife, age 33, 1st marriage 12 years, 3 children/2 living, born PA, parents born Germany Madalena BOYD, dau, age 8, born IN Frank T. Schultz, a local who died in a Pittsburgh hospital and was buried in the Bagdad (Allegheny Twp, Westmoreland Co) cemetery. Death certificate informant was apparently not an relative and therefore lacking important information. 2) 1880 to 1900 - looking for an obituary for Sarah (Dias/Dyess) Schultz w/o Jacob Schultz. She was present in the 1880 Gilpin Twp, Armstrong Co census but missing in the 1900 census. No entry found in the death registers of Armstrong Co (LDS 1317276 - 1893 to1905) or Westmoreland Co (LDS 1316375 - 1893 to 1906).
