Carol, yes, it is worth your time and money and hope to hire a pro genealogist who specializes in your area of research. Following the deaths of our nephew and my sister-in-law who did the background plus, on the POWELL lineage, I took some courses at several prominent genealogical/historical venues. While on the sites, that is at the venues, I learned, and had the privilege of seeing, professional genealogists/historians at work. This I can attest: if it is out there a specialist in your area of interest will find it. If it is not there, you will be told in great detail of all sites searched as well as the subsequent results. If the professional sees hope of finding something elsewhere, at greater investment of time and your money, you will be so informed. I cannot recommend adequately the services of a professional researcher who specializes in your area of interest. This service can be costly, so most work is covered by contract.
