    3. Hi, If I may. The time retention of Medical Records varies by state. After that time has elapsed all providers can and most do, incinerate those records. I believe a records from the 1960's have met that time requirement. Having worked in that profession for a couple decades, I can attest to that.

    3. In Virginia the time is 5 years. I just tried to get my husband's records but it has been 6 years.
