Hopefully someone may give me some insight into the many look-up organizations available, such as “Archives.com”, “peoplesmart”, “MyHertage”, etc. They seem to offer a week of “free”use and then you pay a membership, a price isn’t necessarily given. Has anyone had good luck with these companies… is it worth the membership fee? Which one may be the best offer, or none of them? I’m trying to find the marriages and divorces of Carolyn Towns, and Carolyn Ritz (same person)from Colorado, probably Denver, or near by. Thanks for any input. Shirley , in MI Sent from Windows Mail
Hi Shirley, I'm not familiar with CO and therefore do not know what information is available. But to answer your overall question it depends on the subscription information. Sometimes its worth it and sometimes not. Let me give you an example. I was researching NC area and Ancestry.com had a ton of information for the people I was researching but couldn't find anything on some of my PA people. I tried again a few months ago and they have a ton on my PA people as well. If there is a trial version available, I would try them and then cancel if it doesn't meet your needs. Just as an FYI, many of the paid sites are available for free at my local library. Hope this helps!
