Thanks for the link to the City Directories, Larry. That opens up a lot of research for other families, too. I did find an "R. D. Cochran" in the directories from 1863-1869 that was not related to those of the same name who were oil merchants. I also found a census record suggesting that the same person was a steamship operator. (Living in McCluer Twp in both directly for some years, plus on census.) So really not coming up with anything. The family that I know of came to the US in the 1880s, so these must not be the people I had a hunch they might be. The mystery continues… Pamela
