I had my calendar marked that Ancestry would renew in December. All of a sudden, in Jan. I couldn't get in. Usually Ancestry hammers you with renewal notices ahead of time. This time, it didn't seem to me that they did. But they cancelled me and I think it was my credit card expire date that did it. I got no notice from them that "we're sorry to lose you" etc. When I called in to talk to customer service, they apologized for whatever went wrong (??) and they took my info over the phone and re-upped me. And at $189 (for USA package only). I was surprised, since it was not what I expected. The agent acknowledged that they raised the price. I would have renewed regardless of the price, but this renewal just didn't go as easily as in the past. This new price really won't be so hard to swallow after they finally put those PA Death cert images on later this year. FYI, in ref: the Newspapers.com and Fold3. Don't forget in the USA subscription there is that section called Historical Newspapers Collection. I use it all the time for PA newspapers. Connellsville Courier, Simpsons Leader Times in Kittanning, Tyrone PA (Tribune I think its called) and Charleroi something or other. Check there when you're working on things outside of Allegheny County. Fold3 has always allowed you to purchase a month at a time at $7.95 or so; they also used to allow you to just buy documents by the "each" by that I mean, if you just found one federal naturalization, you could just buy THAT image and only, that for something like 1.95 each or some such. Has anyone found the larger pension files for Civil War people there? My pension files were 50-plus pages and I wondered if they are all included thereon. I cancelled my Fold3 subscription after Ancestry started putting up Federal Naturalization images.
