    1. [ALL] Trying to track down funeral home records.

    3. Does any one have any information of what happens to funeral home records when a funeral home goes out of business ?? So far I have found out the following; 1. The records are usually passed to the successor, if any, of the business. 2. There is no state law requiring that the records be passed to any governmental agency for safekeeping. 3. The records do not pass to the Allegheny County Association of Funeral Directors. 4. The records do not pass to the State Board of Funeral Directors. I am trying to determine what, if anything, might have happened to the records of the Jones Funeral Home, located at 320 Air Brake Avenue, then 421 Herman Avenue in Wilmerding, PA. ---My Great-Aunt, Nancy Ann (aka Annie) (Zimmerman) Marino died on 12 June, 1929. She lived all her life in Wilmerding. A picture of her grave marker is on Find A Grave in the New St JosephCemetery in North Versailles. She was interred there on 14 June, 1929, per the Cemetery record. Jones Funeral Home was the Funeral Director of record. However, there is no Death Certificate listed for her in the Pennsylvania Department of Health website. Thus, she may have died in another state. Trying to find that other state and I thought the Jones Funeral Home record may have that information. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. Dave Zimmerman............. Howell, Michigan

    3. I would try the various cemeteries in the area to see if they "inherited" any funeral home records. Is Wilmerding a small town? Hopefully somebody might know what became of the records among the various cemetery association folks. Of course, to get cemetery association info, you might have to start with the local churches.
