While Allegheny or Westmoreland are not on the site suggested by Bella, the Allegheny County website for Deeds has an option to look back to 1792. I tried and had no luck getting any information. I checked the web support site and they informed me they do not have any of the names in which I have an interest as the names are not on the Recorder of Deeds source location, check with the Recorder of Deeds. A nice gentleman there informed me the Historical Deeds are being scanned, they are 1/3 complete (1788-1880) and completion is two years away. Dave Z.................
I wonder who is scanning them? The response I received said "We are involved in a project to internally scan 100 years worth of old deeds, 1788 to 1880. We are about 1/3 complete." What a resource! I've been waiting for Washington County to come online for a long time. I have the indexes, so it's a matter of pulling the book/page. I've had a FUN night, and within a day or so, I'll have all of the land records that I've long wanted. The quality is good (printing) and I'm screencapping them (no save provision :/ ) to keep a digital copy as well.
