    2. Search thru cemeteries in the area. Some will allow you to look thru their entries . You may find what you are looking for. Good luck. While looking over the deaths that y'all have been collecting, I was hoping to see my great grandfather's name. Instead, I found the death of a 4 year old, who has the same last name. I know nothing about this family but it seems there is a good chance they are related to my family. The name is not common ?- Hermansdoerfer. I have looked on Ancestry, but do not find the family in the 1880 census, and most of the 1890 census was lost in a fire. I have asked my mother, aunt, and their cousins and they have never heard of these people. Would anyone have any more ideas or suggestions of places to search to figure out if there is a link to these other Hermansdoerfer's? My greatgrandfather arrived in the US in 1885 from Bavaria and owned a butcher shop on Spring Garden Avenue, attended St. John's Lutheran Church, and is buried in St. John's Cemetery. He had 3 sisters and 1 brother (who never came to the US) as far as I know. With such an uncommon last name, it seems that there must be a relationship, but I don't know where else to go from here. Thanks in advance.Sandy Passman? ? ? ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2011 17:02:35 -0500 From: "JR Jamieson" <jr@jjamieson.com> Subject: Re: [ALL] Advise please To: <sandypassman@yahoo.com>, <paallegh@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <AB70B25431B24CDBA7C614C3F575D666@yourb27fb1c401> Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="iso-8859-1"; reply-type=original Greetings: Have you considered looking for a marriage record of that name and see what you learn from that.
