Instead, I found the death of a 4 year old, who as the same last name. I know nothing about this family but it seems there is a ood chance they are related to my family. The name is not common - ermansdoerfer. I have looked on Ancestry, but do not find the family in the 880 census, and most of the 1890 census was lost in a fire. I have asked my other, aunt, and their cousins and they have never heard of these people. Would nyone have any more ideas or suggestions of places to search to figure out if here is a link to these other Hermansdoerfer's? My greatgrandfather arrived in he US in 1885 from Bavaria and owned a butcher shop on Spring Garden Avenue, ttended St. John's Lutheran Church, and is buried in St. John's Cemetery. He ad 3 sisters and 1 brother (who never came to the US) as far as I know. With uch an uncommon last name, it seems that there must be a relationship, but I don't know where else to go from ere. Thanks in advance.Sandy Passman
