Last week I spent some time in Phila. at the Presb. Hist. Soc. doing a bit of work on North Side congregations. Larry is right on the mark in that some records are in considerable detail and some are in no detail at all or simply not there. In the story line of what was the 2nd UP congregation of Allegheny the books/records/etc/ moved from pastor and session cleck from one time to another and then from one place to another. Eventually some were sent to Phila. because that is the rule. The best records I ever found were from the German Presby. Church of Manchester in that there was only one pastor for over 50 years and he kept very detailed records that his daughters sent to Phia. Otherwise they would have been lost.
