Thanks for posting the Neal/Neel/Neill etc info, Clare, as I am a descendant through James Harvey Neel and Eliz. BRIERLY; their dau Jane NEEL (1823-1895) m. Dr. John H. O'BRIEN (1808-1887). My mother always thought her family was so poor and came during the famines. I wish she had been well enough to know I had learned that John O'Brien was actually an MD trained at the University of Dublin before he immigrated in 1831. I do not have any info on a Samuel Neel, who marr Mary Cochran, as son of James Neel & Rachel McClure. Would like to correspond with you and share info. My HELBLING line is from the immigrant Franz Xavier Helbling (1800-1876) who immigrated from Endingen, Baden, Germany and marr. Mary Theresa Knipshield (1810-1891), also b. Endingen, Germany. They lived in the Lawrenceville area of Allegheny. I am also researching the BROIDA family of Joseph Broida, b. ~1830 in Russia, marr. to ? and children included Michael, Morris, Peter, Rachael, Kate, Jacob, John, and Ethel. Some of the children were b. Russia/Europe before immigration to US. They did have some retail stores in the Pittsburgh area. This is a great list! Pamela
