I have a Rosina Russell who is on the 1850 Norfolk, VA Census. It states that she was the dau. of Delia and the sister of Hester A. b. 1833, VA. Those names are wrong. Now for the truth. Delia is really Adelia (Ball) Russell, the widow of Thomas Russell of England who was lost at sea May 1835. Hester is Esther (Russell) Russell who married a non-relative William Parker Russell. They lived in Norfolk. Adelia lived in Northampton Co., VA and she married there Nov. 8, 1832. The 1840 Census lists Dela (Adelia) as living in Northampton, VA. By 1844 Adelia was living in Norfolk, VA. Adelia d. 28 Jan. 1882, Norfolk, VA. With the various name's for Adelia I am guessing that the "Adeline" Russell who lived with W.P. Russell and his wife Esther on the 1860 Census was really Adelia. The 1860 does not list Rosina as living in the household nor could I find her anywhere. I cannot find Adelia or any name similar on the 1870 Census. I never thought of checking PA. Adelia had 2 brothers, John and Luther. Her father was John Ball who d. 1811 in Worcester Co. MD. Once again I am guessing but it is possible that Rosana is the illegitimate dau. of Adelia. What dates involve your Rosana Russell? Clare Your Rosena and related names are about 50-60 years before mine. Using the name Rosena from a rough family outline and the obit for the death of a cousin in 1977 where one of his sisters was identified as Rosena Sharpe I managed to track her down. Found that she was living with her sister, Catherine Bastian in the McKees Rock area with the name Rosena Russell. I have not yet been able to connect her to any specific Sharpe or Russell. I believe that she was born about 1906 and died somewhere around the mid to late 1900's, she was a daughter of Harry Raab and Philomena Krecheler. The web site, peoplelookup.com says that there are too many Russells, over 1000, in the Pittsburgh area to be pulled up at one time, and suggested that I refine the search. The only way to refine it is go through all the Pittsburgh ZIP codes looking for her under the Russell name. Haven't had time for that yet. Hasn't shown up yet on the SSDI's that I have.
