The LDS has fewer Catholic than Protestant records but some are there. No particular area, yes vs no. My German Catholic (Katholiche) origin was recorded by Church in Pittsburgh. Knowing that origin, I could find someone in Germany to help me. Quite a few German family records for villages are out there in print if you can make some inquiries. I used the Gen-de mail list. You can inquire in English or German ( I say that so you aren't alarmed when you see postings in German) and someone will offer a hand if they know something or someone who does.
