Thanks to all for the help. Apparently I am not getting all of the messages through digest, as I just this morning saw Norm & Bella's replies. Thanks for letting me know what was in the book you remembered, Bella. Might this photographer have traveled and come to Pittsburgh occasionally for a shoot from Harrisburg? It is 200 mi. but he probably could have taken a train. Would the 1880-1890s been too late for that in the cities? Would there have been photographers who specialized in Jewish family portraits? The book to which I referred last week was: "Directory of Pennsylvania Photographers 1839-1900" by Linda A. Ries and Jay W. Ruby, copyright Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, , Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, 1999. There is only one R.(Richard) D. Cochran from Harrisburg, 1896-1898.
