My grandmother was a Hohman from Wheeling, WV. She had 1 brother, John who moved to Baltimore. I do not know if her father, John Hohman, who died in a flood in Wheeling around the late 1800's had any siblings or not. -----Original Message----- From: paallegh-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:paallegh-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Tomi Larson Sent: Wednesday, January 05, 2011 4:03 PM To: Allegheny Rootsweb Subject: [ALL] Roll Call Hello List, It's a new year, so how about posting our surname interests? Yep. Ossendorf, Germany. The one who settled in McKees Rocks was one of my great-grandfather's brothers. I have the line traced back to the mid-1600s. Starting at the beginning of the alphabet, here's a family I'm researching for a friend. These ALLENs are African American. Delaware ALLEN (given name may have been Dellie Ware or similar) was born in Virginia about 1880. He worked as a plasterer and lived in Michigan in 1920. He married Lou Jennie DAVIS about 1923. In 1930 they lived in East Deer Township, Allegheny Co., Penn., with four sons and a daughter. Apparently the family continued to live in the Pittsburgh area. According to the SSDI he died in 1970. I'd be glad to hear from anyone who is researching this family, or other African Americans in the area. Carol Botteron (that's French Swiss)

Names associated with my WIKERT family are FERBER, BEYERL, HERBIG, WANNER, HENRICH, HEINZ, RAU, SCHUSTER, and ROESCH, all of German origin. Then there is my one Irish Smith from Londonderry. All lived in the Sharpsburg, Etna, O'Hara and Indiana Township area. I am hopeful to find relatives of Heinrich Henrich, who lived in Lawrenceville in the late 1800s. He had 9 children from 3 wives and someone requested a replacement of his son's military headstone in Greenwood Cemetery last year with a new one. I am also searching for descendant of the brothers of my Anna Smith who lived in the Sharpsburg/Etna area after the Civil War. William, Robert, Alexander, James, Hugh and Thomas were mostly laborers in the various local mills. Diane Nichols

I have the surname "Beckert". This family came from Germany (near Freiburg) and settled in Zanesville, Ohio. My gr-gr-gr grandfather was Andreas Beckert and he was married to Magdalena Linck. Most of his children were born in Zanesville. Andreas ran a steam ship between Ohio and PA and at one point lived in Pittsburgh. My gr-gr grandmother Magdalena Beckert (Koehler) was born there in 1839. Andreas 2nd wife was from Pittsburgh and supposedly poisoned him shortly after marrying him (Mary Curfellyon). Here's my information: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=kkoehler&id=I02749 Kathy
