I must have missed the thread. I also have some PROUDFOOTs on my tree: Charles Spiegel PROUDFOOT (1874-1932) -- have obituary married Nellie Bailey FRITZIUS (1879-1950) They left the Allegheny County area and died in Niagara Falls, NY. The children born in Allegheny County are: Alvan Alfred PROUDFOOT (1903-1991) Leah Viola PROUDFOOT (1905-1973) Oliver Perry PROUDFOOT (1907-1998) Charles Bailey PROUDFOOT (1914-1989) They died in other states. Let me know if any of this helps or if there's a connection. ~Blessings, Bev in Calif. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sharon Coyne" <coysharon@gmail.com> To: <PAALLEGH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2011 7:31 PM Subject: [ALL] Proudfoot - Homestead > Hi Janice, > > If this is the Proudfoots that owned a plumbing company I might be > able to help you out. Within the last couple of days someone sent a post about the NEVIN surname. I have saved this email as I too have a collateral line with the Nevin name. Hope this is of some help. Bill, There was a 19th century western PA Rev. William McKinney (died March 13, 1907) who, with his wife Eliza McKee, went to Alabama to work in a Reformed Presbyterian Mission. Their daughter, Lulu Jeanette McKinney, later became the Registrar at Geneva College, retiring in June, 1952 (died June 14, 1973 at about age 97). Don't know anything about when this family arrived here. On the other hand, I do know that Eliza McKee McKinney was a daughter of Robert C. McKee of the Wilkinsburg RP Church (born 1821 at Castleblaney, County Monaghan, died December 29, 1872). Joseph McKee, her grandfather, arrived with his wife and children in 1828. My line descends from John A. McKee (born 1812), oldest brother of Robert C. Hugh ------------------------------

Here are some more collaterall ancestors of mine who came to PA from Belmont Co., Ohio sometime between 1880 and 1900. George W. LASHLEY (1846 - ?) m. in PA abt 1897 Mary DENGLER (1851 - ?). They had one adopted child, Edna (1890 -?) His children from 1st marriage (their mother was deceased) also went to PA: Johnson Rector (1866 - ?) m. Martha J. (1871 - ?) abt 1892 Joseph A. (1868 - ?) m. Mary M. MARSHALL (1860 - ?) in Belmont Co. in 1889. They were divorced and Mary re-married and went to Detroit MI where she was still alive in 1930. Anna M. (1871 - ?) m. James W. WILSON in 1896. Children of Joseph A. LASHLEY and Mary MARSHALL are: Mary B. (1890 - 1977) m. Harry ELLIS (1895 - 1943) abt 1919. John "Jack" (1892 - 1961) m. Estella M. PFEIL (1888 - ) in 1913 (he subsequently had at least 2 other marriages, one to Mandy or Mardy MAYS in Toledo OH in 1930 and to Flora HILL ca ? George A. (1893 - 1961) m. Rebecca ELLIS (1886 - 1960) in 1916 I believe that Harry and Rebecca ELLIS were siblings. All of these LASHLEY children went to the Detroit area and died in the Macomb Co. MI area. I don't believe that any of them had children. The dau. from George W. LASHLEY's 2nd marriage also went to PA: Cornelia (1875 - ?) m. James H. KIDWELL (1870 - ?) in 1894 and their children were: Florence (1898 - ?) Lorraine (1900 - ?) Alfred (1902 - ?) Emily (1906 - ?) Any info. appreciated and any help needed on people they married will provide what I have. Bonnie Burkhardt

It also states that William was deceased at time of book's publication of 1889. Herman was called Harmon. in book. Any info. appreciated Bonnie Burkhardt

I am researching the following families (with a few highlights of each family): AGNEW (Hopewell Twp., Carrick, Oakmont). Robert Agnew settled in Moon Township around 1790. His grandson John Agnew 1819-1905 was a glass manufacturer (Brownsville Road in Carrick, Oakmont after 1870). CHAMBERS (Pittsburgh). also glass manufacturers on the South Side. Came to Pittsburgh from Ireland (probably County Armagh) in 1820. HUNTER (Verona, Oakmont, Pittsburgh). Thomas Armstrong Hunter emigrated from County Tyrone, N. Ireland, around 1850, was a nailer, settled in Verona around 1870 (Hunter Road). One of his sons, John Porter Hunter 1859-1914, was City Solicitor of Pittsburgh. PORTER (Stowe Twp, Pittsburgh, Oakmont) James Porter born Ireland, died about 1838 in Stowe Twp. Susan Buyer Potomac, MD http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~susanb/index.htm
Hi Susan, One of paternal great aunts married William W. AGNEW who I'm having a difficult time researching. Bella Laing Agnew, my great aunt, was born Jan. 3, 1876 at Hatfield St., Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., Pa. and died Feb. 19, 1965 in Bell Co., Tx. Uncle Bill was William W. Agnew born Feb. 1869 in Pa. The source on that was the 1900 Ellsworth District, Tyler Co., West Virginia census. They moved around a lot as in 1910 census I found them living in Marietta, Washington Co., Ohio and by the 1930 census they were living in Dallas, Texas. He died before Aunt Bella but I don't have an exact date. They had 3 children, all deceased. Norman M. Agnew born June 26, 1895 and died July 1968 Tuscaloosa, Al. Juliett M. Agnew born Apr. 24, 1898 and died Dec. 1, 1988 Dallas, Tx. She was married to Frazer Nelson Blackwell William W. Agnew Jr. born 1902 in West Virginia and died Dec. 15, 1975 in Gainesville, Texas - He was a doctor and had lived in Temple, Texas in the 1960's. Are you familiar with this family? I am researching these names in the Pittsburgh area: LEWIS, HOLMAN, HOHMAN/HOHMANN, GEISLER, LANG, CYPHERS, WOOLSLAYER, JONES - mostly 1800s. The German names mostly lived in the East Liberty area and attended Sts. Peter and Paul Church. Regards and thank you to all who work so hard on the Indexing.
