    3. Ruth Ann: The only mention of Morgan in the book is; "Robert Hood Sr., was born in 1821, and died in 1894. His first wife was a Miss Morgan. 2 Sons were born to this couple; Morgan Hood, who died in young manhood by drowning in the Ohio river while swimming, and Robert Lincoln Hood Jr., who died a few years ago." I don't have any info for the other townships. 3. I have been searching for over 50 years for the parents of SAMUEL NEELY MORGAN of Allegheny County (b: 6 June 1810 in Allegheny Co; d: 1877 in Mason Co., WV). SNM was my g-g-grandfather. One possible family head was WILLIAM MORGAN (b: abt 1764; d:1856 in Findley Twp). This William Morgan was in the Federal Census of Moon Twp in 1800 and 1810 then in later census records in Findley Twp which was made of Moon Twp in 1830. Court records indicate he had a son named Samuel of the proper age to be Samuel Neely Morgan. I would like to know what the maiden name was of each of his two wives. Was it Neely? Was his son Samuel a Samuel Neely Morgan? Do you have similar records for Fayette Twp and South Fayette Twp (after 1830)? Another possible family head was a HUGH MORGAN (b: abt 1765; d: July 5, 1848 in Fayette Twp) who had a son named Samuel of similar age as SNM. Hugh Morgan was a resident of Fayette Twp from the 1790 Census to his death. Responses would be greatly appreciated. 3. It took me a while to find this information because I used this service in 2000. It was called Ruesch International, Inc.. At that time I needed a money order for the Germany Archives in Bamberg in DM. My local bank had no idea how to go about it, and when I did find a bank with international connections they were charging a very high fee. I found this company from reading posts on another list. They charged $15.oo for each international money order. I had to set up an account with them and I recall this was simple and done either on the phone or email. I then sent them a check for the Archive fee + their $15.00 charge and they sent me back a money order for the Archive fee amount in DM. I know you are interested in wire transfer and it might be worth a call to see what they can do for you. I did a Google search and they were sold in 2007 to Travelex http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_20090504/ai_n31632558/ The article states: Travelex is the world's largest non-bank currency specialist and global payments provider, making international transactions easy for any business. Operating in over 30 countries, Travelex has been servicing the needs of businesses and consumers for over 25 years. 3. hi, not sure if anyone got the info about John Yewsiak's death a few weeks ago. I just heard from his widow, Marie, with funeral information, if you want to post it on the site or add it to the magazine. Not sure if he was a member, but had attended a few of the Kermesh's in Bentleyville over the years that Audrey Sleva Deitz put together. (You probably also had heard that Audrey passed away during the last days of the year, and her younger brother, Sam, passed away in September of a heart attack) Funeral info for John: John Yewsiak funeral Saturday January 15, 2011 11am Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 621 Stage Coach Lane Fallbrook, CA 92028 This is all of the info that I have. At one of the Kermesh events, John talked about having his DNA done for genealogy purposes! Thanks so much for passing this on. Che Zuro Whiting

    3. Hi Jr, et al, The marriage record department has 1 brand new machine for looking at and copying the records. The other machine is still down. Having been down for 5 months, there is a backlog of more than 100 records that staff must copy. Anyone that has put in an order, hang in. I promised that I would let you know that the department is back up. It's a good looking machine. Take care and keep warm, Nan

    2. Clare- Thanks so much for your detailed reply, and no, it did not come through yesterday, so thanks for resending. I appreciate you including your educated guess as a point to start looking at some of the new data that is becoming available. How do you find the PA will info, esp. if you live out of state? TIA- Pamela

    3. If you received this yesterday, I am sorry for sending it again. It never came up on my computer that I sent it. Clare in Fla. ======= Robert Neal/etc. is not the child of James Neel and Rachel McClure. Have you checked Robert Neill's Will? #132, Vol. 1, p. 189 It lists Nancy Neill as his eldest dau. She m. James McCarty (McCartney) Granddau. Elizabeth McCarty (She m. William Stewart) dau. Mary Willson (Wilson) (m. Francis Willson) Dau. Elizabeth McCullough son - John Neill dau. Jean (under 18 in 1801) dau. Martha (She m. Matthew Stewart as per brother-in-law Francis Willson's will Guardian of Jean and Martha: John Wilkins, Sr. Executors: Friends, Francis Willson and John Wilkins Witnesses: George Steward (that could be Stewart) and John Wilkins The May 8, 1915 issue of the Pittsburgh Bulletin has a long story and the story states: "The wounded men were of no assistance in defending the cabin but the walls were thick and Neal with the aid OF HIS TWO SONS, BOTH UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE...." (The caps are mine) The article is recanting an event a few years before the beginning of the Rev. War and states that Robert had 2 sons but only 1 was named in his will. The 1790 Census lists Robert as having 4 females in his household. There is the possibility that Robert had 2 sons who moved away from home or died. No wife was mentioned in Robert's will that was written in 1801. I did this research many years ago. I have always felt that when I hit a brick wall, I would research every name that surrounded that person. What was interesting in another part of the article. "Robert Neal decided to build his home on a section of his property where he had a spring and close to Nemacolin's Trail, later known as the "Old Road" which lead from Philadelphia to Fort Pitt. Pack horse trains and heavy Conestoga wagons bearing supplies from the East passed it on their way to the log village of Pittsburgh. Neal himself owned a Conestoga outfit and with JACK ANDREWS, a neighbor, made frequent trips to Philadelphia ....." At one point, part of Allegheny Co was Westmoreland Co. My GUESS as to Robert's ancestors: a John Andrews married Margaret (Peggy) Neal dau. of John Neal, Jr. and Margaret (Warden). William Neil of Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland Co was the son of John Neal of Dauphin Co., PA. William wrote his will Jan. 25, 1822. (Vol. 2). Of William's children he lists a son Robert Neil, decd. for whom William paid for a plantation in Pa. which Robert sold. William stated "no additional for Robert's heirs." 2. Jerome Dittman
    3. JR Thanks for this information, she is the Rosana that I am searching for. Zip 15221 appears to be in the Wilkinsburg area, am I correct in that assumption? I ask this as her brother was living in the area in 1967 when he died. Seems that there must have been other family members living in the area. I'm trying to get locations for the children of a few cousins so that I can send a research request to the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocesan Archives. They have already told me they need a location before they will attempt anything to save time. Combining the peoplelookup.com site and the SSDI has been a big aid in locating these cousins. I've even been able to track down an adopted daughter of one in Arlington, VA. Even have located 2 of her sons in VA. I had been up against a wall with all these cousins until I came across the peoplelookup.com site. At that site, if, you find someone you are looking for and they have related people, you have it made, all you have to do is verify, but, that is something you have to do anyway. At one site for my son-in-law they have his parents and uncle, his wife, and his daughter and her husband listed as related persons. I had all this before, as an uncle of my s-i-l had researched the family back to the 4 immigrant brothers and the book is in the local library. Thanks again. Have any Maryland ancestors you need looked for, just let me know. 2. I have been searching for more info about this cabin and the Robert Neal/Neill who built it as described in Clare's recent post, and am hoping that folks on the list may be able to help. I have only found a few pictures of the cabin (would like to find others that show more detail) and just a bit of info: http://sassjoyforums.aesound.com/viewtopic.php?t=129&sid=422e25131ca7b96854d04c81b4a60587 http://www.pittsburghparks.org/park-features-3 Squirrel Hill by the Squirrel Hill Historical Society [Pittsburgh, Allegheny, PA] http://books.google.com/books?id=0pnzB21lmo4C&pg=PA13&lpg=PA13&dq=neal+cabin+schenley+park+pittsburgh&source=bl&ots=haJ8jqLuRG&sig=sX6FB5i23srZr9xACwhC0XeshzY&hl=en&ei=mGomTe6pI8T68Ab42cGgAQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=8&ved=0CEgQ6AEwBw#v=onepage&q&f=false ‪A traveler's guide to historic western Pennsylvania‬ By Lois Mulkearn, Edwin V. I am getting copies of these from the Carnegie Library- well, if it ever thaws out here in the South for mail delivery. I should probably ask about the Pittsburgh Bulletin article from 1915 too, as I have been unable to find that online. I am not sure how the Robert Neill/Neal/Neel who built the cabin is related to James Neel/Rachael McClure (if he is), and haven't been able to determine who his parents may have been. I have seen Clare's very informative posts from 1999 & 2004 in the archives, and am wondering if anyone has found more info. TIA- Pamela

    3. Clare Your Rosena and related names are about 50-60 years before mine. Using the name Rosena from a rough family outline and the obit for the death of a cousin in 1977 where one of his sisters was identified as Rosena Sharpe I managed to track her down. Found that she was living with her sister, Catherine Bastian in the McKees Rock area with the name Rosena Russell. I have not yet been able to connect her to any specific Sharpe or Russell. I believe that she was born about 1906 and died somewhere around the mid to late 1900's, she was a daughter of Harry Raab and Philomena Krecheler. The web site, peoplelookup.com says that there are too many Russells, over 1000, in the Pittsburgh area to be pulled up at one time, and suggested that I refine the search. The only way to refine it is go through all the Pittsburgh ZIP codes looking for her under the Russell name. Haven't had time for that yet. Hasn't shown up yet on the SSDI's that I have.
