Does anyone know what an "intermediate boat" is? My great Grandmother Lizzie Johnson nee Collier went to China in 1909 with a family named Dixons. In their biography, Bertha Dixon wrote: "We had looked it up and found that the intermediate boat 'Asia' sailed from San Francisco on that day." They booked a passage on that boat for China.
