Is anyone researching WILSONs in the 1840s in Allegheny County? There are a number of families in the County at that time, and I'm trying to sort them out. I don't know where in Allegheny my Wilson family lived. I know a John Wilson (born about 1806/1810 Ireland) left Allegheny in 1841 for Harrison County, Ohio with his wife Mary McCLELLAND and two children John (b. 1839 PA) and William (b. 1840 PA). Mary McClelland Wilson's siblings and mother left Allegheny in 1839 for Harrison County. Mary's father John McClelland had presumably already died by 1839. There are a number of John Wilsons in the 1840 census but none seem to match up to my John Wilson. Anyone have any advice for how to find him? Thanks in advance, Rick Wilson New York, NY

According to the information I have, Jacob STILLEY's property was being divided 23 March 1801. Is any listmember researching this man and his family? In particular, I am interested in Elizabeth who married William POWELL. Needed is copy of the complete partition of Jacob's property as I believe that would show residence of William and Elizabeth 1801. >From where/what office does one order the partition of lands 1801? TIA Mary Frances Stilley, Jacob, decd.-March 23 1801: Settlement of the partition of the property. It was ruled that the partition would ruin the whole. Tobias, the eldest son, agreed to accept the whole at valuation, and. (along with Nathaniel Kirkendall) to pay appropriate shares to the other heirs, to wit:the widow Ann Stilley; John Stilley; Peter Stilley; Robert Kennedy and wife Rachel (late Rachel Stilley); Hannah Purcell (late Hannah Stilley), widow of John Purcell (decd.); William Powell and wife Elizabeth (late Elizabeth Stilley); Christopher McGill and wife Rebecca (late Rebecca Stilley). June 10, 1815 Reciepts from John Piersol (sic), Wm. Powell, and Robert Kennedy and wife.
My great-grandparents, Leslie and Lizzie Johnson got a divorce in 1908. Part of the problem was her involvement with the brand new Pentecostal movement. I looked up Pentecostal in the google newspaper archives and found that the Pittsburgh papers called Pentecostals a "cult" Pittsburgh Press, Dec. 14, 1910, page 1. Another article calls them a "Queer Sect" Pittsburgh Press, June 16, 1907, page 3. Cult has a negative connation today. Does anyone know if it had the same negative connotations then? Looks like they didn't have much regard for the Pentecostals back then, so I suppose it did. Bill Johnson
