I have been looking for 133 Perry Street around 1890. Does anyone know of another map that may show actual pictures? Mary
That's cause all you people send EMails out "emass" in the "TO:" line in your browser. You should use the "B.C.C." if you are sending Emails to more that one person. Only use "CC" if you are sending to one other person. When you use BCC it does not send along all the Email addresses that you selected. When a person receives it it only has their name in it. When you mass EMail - the "webots" pick up hundreds of EMail addys cause you kept REPLY to ALL in your response... or forward the EMail with all those EMail addys in there and all the viruses that came with it. No one knows EMail etiquette --- just the sloppy way to do it. Breeds Hill (now Hillcrest) Street in Garfield Hope this helps! Historic Pittsburgh has the images of this street back in the early 1900s. http://images.library.pitt.edu/cgi-bin/i/image/image-idx?&q1=garfield&rgn1=dc_su&type=boolean&xc=1&g=imls&view=thumbnail Several photos there at different intersections There is a mention of a James Street in the South Side of Pittburgh but not sure that is your James Street. > To: paallegh@rootsweb.com > Date: Thu, 7 Apr 2011 17:58:36 -0400 > Subject: [ALL] Pittsburg Streets 1899-1900 > > > Greetings: > > Does any one have any ideas as to where Breedshill St and James St were in 1899-1900. > > My Rassl family originally settled in the Strip District and then in the Lawrenceville/Bloomfield area. Hi Listers, Do be careful of those awful viruses that lurk around. My computer was completely disabled due to an invasion of a virus and three days later and $110.00 poorer, I'm back online. Be certain of what you click on even if it is someone you know. Those links can contain viruses. Cornelia Browne

Hi, Bella. Thanks for trying to find information for me. I see the Knust you are talking about in New York in 1930. I don't think that is him. His full name is John G. J. Knust - no middle initial of "W". From the time he went into business, this family always lived overseas - Puerto Rico, Philippines, I think at one time they were in Genoa, Italy. I suspect the two kids are on their own because the mother, Effie, died. No clue where the father is. Information on them just kind of dries up. I did find death records for both the boys, Karl and Kenneth, so no one left to ask. Thank you so much for the census records for Betty and Karl. Betty may have married, I have yet to find anything on that. I am working on this for a Jones cousin (Effie maiden name) who has been so helpful and generous to me so I hope I can find something concrete to give them. Thanks so much. JR: I searched the Hopkins maps at the Historic Pgh site and only got a hit on one map. It shows Breedshill west of and pointing at Allegheny Cemetery in the 19th ward. The next street south is Rosetta and north is Columbus. It ties in to Mathilda on the west. I can't be sure, but I'm wondering if my great great grandfather, Francis Mountain is in the photo, maybe the person standing behind the right shoulder of the man in front with the light suit and his hand on a boy's shoulder? Francis was alive in 1904, living in Heidelberg with his large family. He is listed among the members of the Thomas Espy Post. The Mountain family is one of the families included in a large online website: http://genealogy.fredquest.com/gendata/index.htm?ssmain=p65.htm;i6176 There are photos of him as an older man. His oldest daughter, Mary Ann, married James Rodgers in Carnegie in 1893. James Rodgers' family was in and around Green Tree and Crafton. Their son, Felix Rodgers (my grandfather) raised his family in Dormont. My thanks to all who post on the list serve and keep up the website. I have learned much from both! One of my cousins sent this to me to see how many names we can ID. We're working to id our kin-- anyone able to help out in this effort? We've got George B FORSYTH, Col. William James GLENN down pat. Trying to age old photos of Cassius LEA and Robert H YOUNG to get their names on the correct pics. Wouldn't it be cool if the group could pull this one out of the bag! http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/11093/1136324-51.stm annie
