    2. Kelley Davis
    3. I've been on this list before, years ago, and after a several year hiatus I am back. I have info on a Wood family from Pittsburgh, in what used to be the area of Temperanceville and Allegheny City. This family is descended from Abinah Belford Wood and Susannah Humphreys, who emigrated to the area in the 1820s from New Jersey. I have several connections but will be glad to make more. Names connected to this family are Bupp, Tatem, Huether, Pfeiffer, Strickler, Humphreys, McGinnis, and Fielding My research is online on rootsweb.com http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=wooddesce or you can message me on or off the list if you want to see if I have any info that might help you. -- Kelley Wood-Davis Norwalk, IA kelitawood@gmail.com

In about 1880 three Burger brothers emigrated from Gross-Zimmern, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germay to North-America: Anton BURGER, a baker, born Gross-Zimmern 29 Apr 1859, Adam BURGER, a butcher, born Gross-Zimmern 13 Dec 1860. Philip BURGER, a baker, born Gross-Zimmern 14 Sep 1865. They were Catholics and Adam Burger and Philip Burger settled in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. We could get in contact with some relatives there, but we are on the beginning of our researches in and around Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Now I could find Anthony Burger in Allengheny City in the 1900 US Census: Anthony Burger, a backer, born in Germany in Apr 1959, his wife Mary Burger, born in Germany in Dec 1859, their children: Philip Burger, born in Pennsylvania in May 1883, a baker, John Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Sep 1885, a brickyard worker Mary Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Nov 1887, Bernard Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Sep 1891, George Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Sep 1893, Margaret Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Mar 1896, Rose Burger, born in Pennsylvania in May 1898, Tillie Burger, born in Pennsylvania in Mar 1900 later Ambros Burger, born in Pennsylvania in 1901 Ancestor of the Burger families in Gross-Zimmern was Jean Burger, a Catholic, who came from the Diocese of Li?ge in Belgium during the Thirty Years' War, 1618-1648. On 6 Mar 1653 his first son Wendel Philipp Burger was born. We would like to get in contact with descendants of Anthony Burger and/or interested searcher to share informations, because we would like to write a Burger family history. Thanks in advance. If somebody has access to 1910 and 1920 US census would be great. 1. [ALL] 1940 Census
    2. Friends-- I look forward to seeing the 1940 Census next year. It will be the first census where I will find myself and my wife listed. I have been around the genealogy world long enough to remember when the 1910 Census first came out. In Southern CA we all stormed the Federal Archives at Laguna Niguel, and took numbers and waited for our turn to get on a microfilm reader. A person usually got on a reader twice, sometimes three times in a day if they were lucky. There were about 50 microfilm readers, and some folks even brought their own portable microfilm readers and plugged them into outlets on the floor. The place was literally mobbed over the Christmas Season of 1982. I think it will be a lot easier today because of the strong impact that Ancestry dot com has had, as well the fact that most folks have computers and are on-line, and can do a lot of research from home. 3. Bill: By 2082 they won't need the census anymore. I did some research about 3 or 4 years ago to get an idea of how many federal databases you're on. For one, all of your school records are now stored in a federal database. If a person is dead you can probably get everything they have with a foia request. 3. I still haven't had to to extensively search every single Schonder in the 1930 census since up until the 1920 and those we know online today are all related. :-D Guess I have less than a year to find a cheap way to do it lol On 4/19/2011 12:13 PM, Lanita Sconce Smith wrote: > I am sooooo ready for the 1940 census... when does it come out?
