"A prominent Republican politician, local businessman and farmer, he had served the county as sheriff, as member of the state legislature and was county Republican chairman for six years. He was also well known as an auctioneer. "He served as Republican county chairman from 1932 to 1933 when he resigned the post in order to run for the state legislature and served as the chairman of the Pinchot campaign in the county. During his term as county chairman the Repulicans overcame what had been a longtime Democratic lead in registration in the county. He served in the state legislature in 1939-1940. "He was engaged in a number of business ventures in the county and with a son operated Thompson's Warehouse on Carlisle Street for many years. He also was engaged in filming over a number of years.
