Being single and in the tax record means they are at least 21.I believe that Your John is the son of either John or Jacob Smith in Huntington in 1826, A check of the 1820 census shows that only Jacob Smith has sons 19-26. John died in 1853 at age 51 he would be born 1801, 1802. John doesn't have any over 15, It appears to me that Jacob Smith of Huntington is your most likely candidate to be John's father. How do you know that Thomas D. was born in York Springs? Catherine the wife of John A died 13 June 1915 age 79. The goal now is to find a will,orphan's court record or deed that has John and Jacob on it. Have you investigated John or Jacob as John's father?
