    3. In 1860 in Gettysburg I find Margaret Slonaker listed, age 30. Above her is a Samuel Hill, age 76. There is also a Matilda Slonaker, age 25, and a Forrest E Gill (or possibly Hill), age 3. On the edge of the census it says "Sick Hospital Adams County Poor House". Do you think these are yours? In 1880, Forrest Thompson is listed as the step-son to William Thompson, so while he might have assumed his step-father's last name, in 1860 he probably was still using his birth father's last name. Let me know if you'd like me to send you the image. Deb Stanish Susan Alexander wrote: > I wonder if somethings are missing from the 1860 census. I, too, have had no luck finding my g-grandfather, Forest Hall Thompson and his mother, Margaret Slonaker, in the Adams County census records. Margaret was born in Gettysburg in 1828 and Forest Hall was born in 1856 in Hunterstown. > They appear in the 1870 census, but I cannot find them in the 1860 census in either Straban Township or Gettysburg. > Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else to try? > Thanks, > Sue > > > > > > > > > > Date: Fri, 11 Sep 2009 07:46:19 -0400 > From: Sue Ashton <suzinmi@gmail.com> > Subject: Re: [PAADAMS] 1860 Census Help - Berwick Township > To: "Ken Deatrick, Jr" <kdeatrick@embarqmail.com> > Cc: paadams@rootsweb.com > Message-ID: > <5875aa8a0909110446y48406e11r8e30ae541445a9b3@mail.gmail.com> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 > > Ken, > > Thank you for the scan.
