    1. Re: [PAADAMS] FLYING CAMP - Revolutionary War
    2. Hello Marilyn I saw your inquiry on the list--forwarded it on to my son, as you can see below. He is very knowledgable concerning military history. Our Rudisill family members also lived at Two Taverns at the time, which is an interesting connection, and one served with this unit. Here is his reply. I hope it will be helpful to you. I have a 4 x great uncle, Charles Wilson, who while enlisted with the Flying Camp was captured by the British and sent to one of those British ships harbored in New York. I believe that my 4 x g, grandfather Robert Wilson was also a member of the Flying Camp. The Wilsons lived near Gettysburg or Two Taverns during the Revolution. Does anyone know if there is a book or a web site that might list the names of the men from around the Gettysburg area that were in the Flying Camp? Thank you, Marilyn; Lake Co., IL; grew up Belle Vernon, PA Rick This might interest you--I got it as a member of the PAADAMS geneology records site. I thought you might even have some info. for this person. Here is his reply. The web site he includes has a wealth of information. Flying Camp was a name given to many militia units at the start of the war, especially from PA-MD-DE. There is a lot of info on the net. This is one link that I expect this person has already seen.
