    1. [PAADAMS] Eugene S. Sickles (Painter and Historian)
    2. Are any of the readers familiar with Eugene S. Sickles? He contributed information to the Gettysburg Times in 1973 that is of great interest to my family history research. He died 30 March 1975. I am trying to locate someone who would know what would have happened to his research papers afer his death. Maybe someone who knew him could help with this. I have been to the Adams County Historical Society. No help there. The information I am seeking was in reference to the Old weathervane that was on the first Court House in Gettysburg. It was built in the center of the square, if I understand the info correctly, and later a new court house was built. The newspaper article states the names of people who helped built this courthouse. Carpenters, who helped Henry Hoke build this court house are listed. They were from Buchanan Valley, and a Francis McKenrick is listed as being one of the helpers. I need to know where he would have gotten these names. They are not listed as people who were paid by the county for work done. He must have been a contractor and these men may have been paid by him. This article is in the May 24, 1973 Gettysburg Times. We are able to trace my Great-great great grandfather Andrew McKenrick born about 1792-94, unable to locate his father. If this Francis lived in Buchanan Valley, he may have been my missing link. I have searched all the obvious records, tax, census and so forth. Respond to me if you can help or have a suggestion at d2bailey@comcast.net.
