Vicki, Jacob Hartman was mentioned in my paternal side strong candidate gggg-grandfather George Charles (aka Karl) Good's administration. John Arendt was the administrator for Charles Good's estate, along with two others. I have a will and some administrations that you may or may not be interested in. They are for Charles Good, Peter Waggoner, John Smith, and Samuel Fleck. * My Katy Gooden/Good/Guten/other variants married John Smith. * John Smith's 1849 Loyalhanna, Westmoreland Co., PA will bequeaths to his wife Catharine the money being held for her from her father's estate by Peter Waggoner of Adams County. * Charles Good's (d. 1623) estate administration gives a child's full share to John Smith, Jacob Hartman and Peter Waggoner. Charles' first administrator was John Arendt, who died in 1826. After John Arendt died, a 2nd administration team was formed. I have both sets of administrations. I also have William John Arendt's estate administration. * Peter Waggoner's (d. 1852) administration by James Russell has an accounting record that lists two interest payments of $15.60 and $7.80, respectively, to Mrs. Smith and a payment of $137.86 to Magdalena Smith. It also lists a Dr. J. N. Smith acct. for $7.50, but that is probably a doctor's fee. (I cannot find the online listing right now, but found in the past that a Dr. Joseph N. Smith was a coroner at one time, early on.) There are other names of interest in Charles Good's administration and in christening records. I am trying to figure out what, if any, is the relationship among them. I'd appreciate any input. Do you know how the Goods, Smiths, Arendts, and Hartmans are connected? Do you have ideas on how the Fohls are connected to the Goods and other surnames? I'm also looking for possible connections to Schlossers and Seilers who are mentioned in christening records. If you are interested in anything that I have or have things you think I'd be interested in, I'll be happy to share. Lee Anne e
The only connection I have is that my great great grandfather, James Henry Thompson, b. 1827 Littlestown, was married to one Mary (Ann? Jane?) Arendt.? She died when James was serving in the Civil War.? He went AWOL and came home to find someone to take care of his children.? He hired one Elizabeth Routson/Routsohn/Routzahn to do the job.? Her husband, Daniel Sell, had recently died leaving her and her children destitute. James eventually went back to the war, but served in a different unit.? The relationship between Elizabeth and James eventually became more than just employer/housekeeper after the war.? At that time they moved from Gettysburg to Gallitin Davies County, Indiana, where Elizxabeth became pregnant.? When he refused to believe that it was his baby, she left him and came to stay in Pittsburgh with her sister Margaret.? According to the cenuses, the baby girl, Gertrude, was b. 1870 either in MD or PA.? James eventually came back to Pittsburgh and took Elizabeth and the baby girl back to IN, and they eventually moved to Springhills, Chamnpaign County, OH.? On his deathbed James admitted that Gertrude actually was gus daughter.
