Statewide birth records (civil records) were not kept in Pennsylvania until 1906. For a brief period of about 2 years records were kept in the county courthouses from 1852 to 1854 and were then abandoned due to lack of compliance with the law. Aside from the above, church baptismal records and privately held family Bibles are the best source of birth information for Pennsylvania. Joan In a message dated 5/31/2009 10:27:47 P.M.
