Marilyn. I too have been trying to sort out the various Smith families. it seems there were several in the early York County area, as early as 1735, and some perhaps earlier. I have the names of at least six men named William Smith, and do not know if they connect with either of our families. I do not think the William Smith on which I have the most information, re: his probate, is the same as your William Smith. "My" William Smith is married an Elizabeth, maiden name unknown. She is named in her husbands probate, as are their children, James, George, William and Eleanor. William the younger married either in PA, or somewhere on his journey to Kentucky, or Virginia. It is very possible he had a daughter named Mary {Polly}, but this is all the information I have on this William the second. William the first died in the late 1700's, in York County.
