Regarding: William Smith My 5 x g, grandfather was a William Smith who purchased his land from William Penn. His daughter, Mary Smith, married Robert Wilson b/ 1750 and her sister, Esther Smith, married Robert's brother, Charles Wilson b 1751. Is there any connection between my William Smith and the William Smith mentioned in the recent Adams County emails? I only know of his daughters via his Will but have often thought that he may have had sons who were doing well so William took care of his 4 daughters in his Will. Charles Wilson fought in the Revolution with the Flying Camp and was captured by the British. There is a Robert Wilson also with the Flying Camp but I haven't proved this Robert was the brother of Charles. Robert Wilson and Mary Smith are my 4 x g, grandparents. The Wilsons lived at Two Taverns. Searching for a John and William Smith is like looking for a needle in a haystack. > Possibly the most difficult would be finding the surnames of Margaret, wife of John;, and Elizabeth, wife of William. The maiden name of Margaret may start with an R, as her son Hugh named his first daughter Margaret R. Smith. He also named the youngest daughter, Ann R. Smith. On Elizabeth, I have no idea, as I have found no middle names in the children of William and Elizabeth. > I believe John Smith may have been born around 1720, no idea where, just that the earliest land record I have is his warrent for land in 1743, in later York, and Adams Counties, probably the Tyrone township area. I don't know if they belonged to any church, no record, but Margaret, wife of John, did join the Christ Anglican church {aka White church} near York in 1777. > I also would really like to find out about the two men named George Smith, one of which stayed on his father {William} property in York County, Huntington Township, property of about 200 acres. William possibly was manufacturer of whiskey, as he had 300 kegs listed in his probate. > The other George Smith was a miller, possibly in Tyrone township. One of the two George's married a Sarah Brandon, daughter of Thomas Brandon. One of them died before 1810 and the other before 1820. I would like to know children if possible, one or two of which probably was named George. > > Anything of any nature would be helpful. > Thank You again. > Judy Smith/Colorado > > -- > People do not seem to realize that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character. > Ralph Waldo Emerson > > > > > ********* > Visit the threaded archives of this list: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/PAADAMS > ********* > Messages posted to the RootsWeb/Ancestry PAADAMS Message Board are gatewayed to this Mailing List.
