Thank you for your reply. Actually, I descend from two Smith families. The one in pre-Revolutionary times in the Gettysburg area is from my mother's side; and, then, I have a James Kennedy married to a Margaret Smith in SW PA on my dad's side. Their daughter, Mary Ellen Kennedy married a David Landis. Trying to research the Wilson and Smith families in early Gettysburg is really a job. There are so many families and they seem to share the same first names for their children. My William Smith lived in the Manor of the Masque.
