(paraphrased. The article is on Ancestry. -----In this article a Mr A.I. Deitrick tells the story of a purse made by his grandfather Joseph Deitrick, a shoemaker, in 1779. Joseph Deitrick died in 1831 and the purse passed to A.I.D.'s father. In 1850 when A.I. Deitrick's father died he inherited the purse. A.I. Deitrick states he was born in Gettsburg Adams county Pennsylvania. and came to Allen county Indiana in 1852.-------. I believe this is the Alfred Deitrick (w: Catharine) who along with John Deitrick ( W:Susan) and Samuel and Rebecca Deitrick came to Allen County Springfield twp Indiana to start a church in 1852. I believe Alfred Deitrick's father was a another John Deitrick . The three families lived in Mahoning county Ohio immediately before coming to Indiana. While I have additional information on the family of Alfred, I am hoping the purse article will help me find the parents of Samuel Deitrick and his wife Rebecca Kaufman. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with information on this family. Would also be willing to share any information I have.
