Star Sentinel, Gettysburg PA, June 23, 1891 MARRIED Daniel MCDEVITT, of Philadelphia, to Nettie MYERS, of Adams county, were married last week by Rev. T. P. Rafferty, at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Carlisle. DEATHS Rev. J. R. SHOFFNER died on June 12, at Wilkesbarre, of valvular disease of the heart. Mr. SHOFFNER was pastor of St. John's Lutheran church of Columbia a few years ago. He leaves a wife but no children, and was about the age of 46 years. MISCELLANEOUS Mr. and Mrs. H. M. HAFER, of Reading, who have been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. SHAILEY, near this place, left for home this week. Mrs. Andrew SETTON, of Mechanistown, MD, visited her brother C. S. SEFTON, last week. Mrs. Dr. VAN CAMP and two daughters, Miss Rosa and Annie, of Plainfield, N.J., visited at Mr. and Mrs. HARTZLERS last week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles WINEBRENNER, of McKnightstown, and Miss Mary WINEBRENNER, of Mechanicstown, Md., visited their parents at this place over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. De Witt HAINES, of Union Bridge, Md., visited his mother who was quite ill. She lives with her daughter, Mrs. H. WELTY near this place. Tommy WINEBRENNER and his sister, Mattie, visited their brother and sister at Mechanicstown, Md., last week. Miss Mary C. HOLLOWELL, of Chambersburg, will sail for Japan in August to enter the Reformed church school at Sendai as assistant to Miss POORBAUGH, Principal of the institution. She is a member of Zion's Reformed church and was elected to her new position at a recent meeting of the Foreign Mission Board of the church.
