    3. Betty, the Evergreen Cemetery is immediately adjacent to the National Cemetery the President Lincoln dedicated at Gettysburg. An iron fence separates the two because the Evergreen cemetery predates the National Cemetery. The Evergreen Cemetery is rather large. I believe it started in the 1850's, but there are many graves in there that were moved to the Evergreen Cemetery from other locations, so just because someone died before the 1850s doesn't mean they aren't there. My great-uncle is buried there.
