Hi Bill, I am not related to the King family, but from The 1886 History of Adams Co, I found: (synopsis) Maj. Robert Bell, born in Menallen Twp, Mar 5, 1830, son of James & Marth McIlhenny Bell, natives of this county and of Scotch-Irich descent. James Bell, the grandfather of Maj. Robert was non-commissioned officer in the Revolutionary War. James Bell Jr. (father of Maj Robert Bell) was born on the farm that Maj. Robert Bell now resides. James Jr was the father of 4 children, of whom Maj Robert Bell is the youngest. In 1853, Maj Bell married Abigail, daughter of Jacob King. Her grandfather, Hugh King and her great-grandfather VICTOR KING served in the French and Indian and Revolutionary wars. The Kings were of Scotch- Irish descent, and pioneers of the State of Pennsylvania. To the Major & wife, the following children were born: Fannie J. James F Nannie A Martha A W.W. Robert K Carrie K J Grant The parents are identified with the Presbyterian church. Hugh King was taxed in Tyrone Twp in 1801. Mrs Abigail King, wife of Hugh King of Tyrone, died Saturday, April 18, 1807 William Thomas King, Gettysburg, born in Champaign Co Ohio Aug 11, 1829, only son of John & Violet King (the Kings not related before marriage). Violet, a native of Pennsylvania. Three brothers named King, and ancestors of Mr William Thomas King on his mother's side, took up land and were among the first, if not the very first, settlers on Upper Conewago Creek, in what was afterwards known as "Conewago Settlement", long before the county was formed and as early as 1735 or 1738.
