    1. [PAADAMS] Eugene Sickles & Gettysburg Court House
    2. I am researching my McKenrick roots from Adams County. This family has been researched by many people, and we have never been able to get back farther than Andrew McKenrick, born about 1792. Of great interest to me is an article from the May 24, 1973 Gettysburg Times about the Ancient Brass Eagle Atop the Old Town Firehouse, which was orginally on top of Adams County's first courthouse, which was built in about 1806. In this article, Eugene Sickles, who has since passed away, a local historian and painter lists names of different workers on court house. One name is a Francis McKenrick, from Buchanan Valley. I have been to the historical society in Gettysburg and was not able to find any records that contained the names of these carpenters who worked on this court house. There are records of the expenses paid, but these men must have been what we call today sub-contractors. Their names are not listed. Does anyone have any idea where I could find these records? Did Eugene Sickles leave his research papers to anyone or to a particular orgainization? The names of the other carpenters named were John Diller, Jacob Moritz, and Francis McKenrick. The article states these men worked for Henry Hoke. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Dorothy Bailey d2bailey@comcast.net

    1. [PAADAMS] MORE militia muster rolls from Camp Security (74 names)
    2. Blake M. Stough
    3. The following are names from the pay roll and muster rolls of Captain Andrew Foreman's Company of militia from York County. These men guarded the Convention prisoners at Camp Security in November and December 1781. This camp was a Revolutionary War POW camp in York County. Some of these men may have came from, or settled in counties other than York. These names were transcribed from PA Archives books and the spelling is shown as they were in those records. I included rank of these people, and some had different surnames listed on the records, as shown with a question mark. If I have a pension for this person it is also listed. Please contact me if you descend from these people as I am creating a database of descendants as well. Any additional information is appreciated. Thank you. Blake M. 1. [PAADAMS] Militia muster roll from Camp Security (75 names)
    2. Blake M. Stough
    3. The following is a multi-list posting. I apologize to anyone receiving multiple copies. I am expanding my database of men who served at Camp Security, the last remaining undeveloped Revolutionary War POW camp in the United States. While the camp was located in York County, some of the men lived in Adams County, or settled in Adams County after the war. Over the past week I verified the names I previously added to my database, to assure accuracy in past research I had performed. The following are NEW names I have just acquired from PA Archives books. I have transcribed these names exactly as shown in the books, so surname spelling might not be accurate to your research. At times one needs to look at the surname a few times to understand what name they were actually writing. If you feel you descend from these people, I would appreciate a response, as I am also compiling a database of descendants from men who served at Camp Security. Names of more militia members will follow as I transcribe them. Thank you. Blake M. Stough The following is a muster roll from Captain Samuel Fullton's company of militia from York County, PA, which guarded Convention prisoners at Camp Security for the month of September 1781. Ranks have been included if shown in the records I transcribed, and I also listed if I have a pension for that person. 3. Hi gene researchers, I’m combing the lists of southeastern PA looking for my brick wall, hope someone can help: GGG grandparents - Johann Jacob and Elisabeth EDELMANN both would have had to have been born circa 1790 or earlier. I don’t know Elisabeth’s surname, only what’s in their children’s records from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jonestown, Lebanon County, PA. Could have lived elsewhere, born in PA or Germany or ? In addition to my GG grandfather Raymond, only his brother Johann Christian EDELMANN may have lived to carry on the Edelmann name so I also would like to know if he married and had children. Known children of Jacob and Elisabeth EDELMANN 1. Henrietta, dau. b. 9 Nov 1811; bap. 15 Jan 1812 2. Juliana, dau. b. 9 Jan 1814; bap. 22 May 1814 3. 1. Re: [PAADAMS] Sara Emma Stough 1913
    2. Blake, The standard dates for Sara and her parent's. Was her father a farmer, what was his occupation. Do you know where the Robinette connection is to Joel Griest? There are a couple of small family cemeteries in Adams Co., that contain both Griest's and Robinette's, but I didn't think the families were related/married. Did Joel & Sara have any children? The Presbyterian cemetery is on Old Harrisburg Road (15) about one tenth of a mile west or south of Carlisle Pike (94). Coming from Route 94, it will be on your right side. The house next door to it, is the only house on that side of the road and the closest cross street is Tracy Dr., across the street from the cemetery. If you like I can email a GoogleEarth view of it. I was told that the cemetery went by the name "Rock Chapel" is that correct? I'm confused are there two spellings for Stough and Stauch? thanks, Bob Cooke ----------------------------------------- Hi Robert I can definitely help you with Sara as I knew her personally. Several years ago the family had me visit to give a presentation on their STAUCH heritage. It was originally to be Sara and her brother and sisters, but ended up being at least 40 other family members as well. Before I post a great deal of information that does not interest you, can you tell me the type of information you are seeking? I can better help you if I can find this out first. Of interest to me is the location of the cemetery you referenced, as I would like to photograph their tombstone. Thanks Bob, and I look forward to hearing from you. Blake M. 1. [PAADAMS] Seeking information on Rev. War soldiers...
    2. Blake M. Stough
    3. This will be posted on several lists, so I apologize to anyone who receives multiple copies. Feel free to forward to other lists or researchers. As many of you may know, I have been researching the men who served at Camp Security, the last undeveloped Revolutionary War POW camp in the country. This camp is located in Springettsbury Township, York County. I am also directly involved in the efforts to save the site from development, as a board member of Friends Of Camp Security. We have started plans for a much needed website update (www.campsecurity.com), which brings me to the purpose of this message. I am currently developing a database of men who served at the camp, those who were prisoners, and descendants of both. I am gathering ANY AND ALL documentation about these men and their time at the camp. This information can be anything mentioning the camp, such as pensions, information from books such as PA State Archives, military rosters, etc. I know many researchers have come across information stating their ancestors were guards at the camp, or possibly transported troops there. I would like to hear from ANYONE who had an ancestor at the camp, those who believe their ancestor might have been a guard or prisoner, and also all those who have documentation stating this. I am interested in ANYTHING related to Camp Security, as this will be used for future projects, possible website updates, etc. This research needs to be performed as it has never been completed in the past. Descendants are asked to supply their contact information for our database which will never be released without permission. We also have a Camp Security mailing list for those interested. Details of subscribing are as follows... To join in mail mode, send an email to AMREV-CAMP-SECURITY-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject and body. To join in digest mode, do the same thing with AMREV-CAMP-SECURITY-D-request@rootsweb.com. Thank you for your time, and I will begin posting information that I have already acquired very soon. Anyone sending contact information, please email me directly and not through the list. Blake M. Stough stauchistory@gmail.com

    1. [PAADAMS] Sara Emma Stough 1913
    2. Mr. Stough, Hello, it has been a while. I have a Stough in my tree that I wonder if you know about. Her name is Sara Emma Stough born in 1913, the daughter of Charles M. Stough (no dates). Sara married Joel Robinette Griest (1910-1988), June 8, 1935, Tyrone twp., Adams Co. Joel R., was the son of, Joel Herbert Griest (1875-1959) & Metta Bushey (1875-1959). Can you add any Stough family info? I found the Presbyterian graveyard at York Springs (it may be known as "Rock Creek"?) where Joel Robinette & Sara (Stough) Griest are buried. There is no church, in fact we parked in the driveway of a neighbors house. The cemetery is in a neighborhood, the people were very kind and let us park in their driveway. Thanks, Bob Cooke **************Make your summer sizzle with fast and easy recipes for the grill. (http://food.aol.com/grilling?ncid=emlcntusfood00000005)
