QUESTION: for researchers and descendants of the Rev. Robert Annan who left Fifeshire Scotland ahead of his first cousin James Wilson and settled in Marsh Creek in the 1700s. Believe that Robert Annan may have been connected with the Anglican or Presbyterian church. In a biography of James Wilson which I mentioned in a previous post, it is mentioned more than once about the friends and relatives who had left Fifeshire Scotland and settled in eastern PA who would help James Wilson once he left Scotland and arrived in PA, do you know who the other Wilson kin were in the area? Also, was the Robert Wilson of Philadelphia with whom James Wilson stayed an uncle? Thank you, Marilyn: Lake Co. ; 4 x g,granddaughter of Robert Wilson and Mary Smith of Mt Joy Twp., Adams Co.
Question for William Bigham/Bingham researchers and descendants: Is the William Bingham mentioned on pages 150,203,263,343,383,;partner in Canaan Co., 162, Philadelphia capitalist, 161; urges revision of PA. Constitution of 1776, 297; Wilson borrows from, 361, in the book, "James Wilson, Founding Father, 1742-1798," by Charles Page Smith, same person as the William Bigham who married Anne Wilson after 1779? Anne Wilson b. 1760; d. 1838, Freedom Twp., Adams Co. was the daughter of Charles Wilson and Mary Weems/Wemyss. The family lived in the general area of Gettysburg. We show a William Bigham b 1748; d. 1816, Liberty Twp., Adams Co. Thank you, Marilyn: Lake Co., IL; 5 x g,granddaughter of Charles Wilson and Mary Weems/Wemyss.

Hey Listers - What is the official name of this church? Dryland Lutheran? Dryland Reformed? I have seen both in references. Bobbi
Lets all take a good look at the church records of the Rock Creek (Gettysburg) area. Is the "Upper Marsh Creek Church" the same as the Rev. John Black's Group? My records say that they are not. I have a copy of an article from the Gettysburg "Star and Sentinel August 27, 1889." It reads in part as follows; "Everything points to dissolution, and ultimate sale of the property. There still are some bodies in the grave-yard. The congregation was organized about April 1753, at which time there is record of the ordination of Messrs. Jeremiah Morrow and David Dunwoody as Elders. The old Log church , located on the Dunwoody now David Blocher) farm, north of Gettysburg , erected prior to 1774, was taken down when the congregation put up in Gettysburg the present brick building in 1805" York County Historical Society has a photo of this church. It has also since been removed. My fourth great grandfather served on the building committee. Several years ago while doing some research in the area I photographed the Upper Marsh Creek Church. That means there were and are at least three different groups in that area. Lower Marsh Creek, Upper Marsh Creek, Rev. John Black's group which apparently became the Presbyterian Church in Gettysburg. More confusion, there is a section of the cemetery of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hunterstown call the "Pines Burial Ground" which at one time had a Covanenter Church long been torn down. Many of my ancestors including my fourth and fifth great grandparents are buried there as well as others. Gladly will share any additional in that I have. Daniel and Beverly Patterson have been helping me with my Innis inquiry. Daniel personally inspected Balck's cemetery about 8 years ago and provided the information below. This information differs from earlier transcriptions in the Beers 1886 Adams County History, which are almost certainly incorrect. Innis family in Blacks Cemetery (formerly Upper Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church site), just north of Gettysburg: Innis, James, 1766 (age 62), DOD 12/29/1766 Innis, Jean, 1760 (age 39) DOD 12/16/1760 In the 1886 History this name is listed as John Innis Innis, Robert, 1762 (age 40) DOD 2/1/1762 In the 1886 History the year of death is 1763 Does anyone have any additional information about these individuals? I know there are other Innises and James Innises in PA around that time, and I want to move beyond speculation about there interrelation. Are there any write ups about the cemetery and its early years, or the Upper Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church that it belonged to? This is different from the Lower Marsh Creek Presbyterian Church. Thank you, Knut Barde
