    1. Re: [PAADAMS] Berkheiser In Adams Co.?
    2. I checked the Ancestry.com historical newspaper collection and there are a couple dozen or so references to Berkheisers in the Adams County newspapers. Also, the Adams County Historical Society has a reference system by surname. You may want to contact them ( _www.achs-pa.org_ (http://www.achs-pa.org) ) for additional information on Berkheisers.

    1. ZIEGLER family in Idaville, Adams Co./records of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Idaville
    2. E.J.Richards
    3. Dear Adams Co. Listers, If some kind soul out there could help me out with the following, I'd be very grateful. My g-g-grandfather, Abram Ziegler, born 2 Sept 1820 or 1821, says he was born in Cumberland Co., only it appears that in fact he was the son of one David Ziegler, born 1790, and buried at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Idaville, which is just sorta over the county line from Cumberland Co. (A few years ago I taxed everyone's patience in Cumberland Co. List with the search for my Zieglers from Mars. Thanks to some very helpful kind souls, I am making progress.) By the way, would someone in Idaville nowadays feel that they were closer to Carlisle than to Gettysburg? I see that the two cities are linked by the Old Carlisle Road, and am just wondering what the ties between these two cities were in the nineteenth century. Does anyone out there have access to this church's records? I do not have a baptismal record for Abram, nor do I know the name of his mother. And did this church house a Lutheran and a Reform congregation? Help!!!! Thanks in advance, Jeff Richards Muenster, Germany

    1. Christ Episcopal Church
    2. Also commonly known as the White Church. Are there any records of burial in the cemetery? I am looking for a John Smith d: 1785 and his wife Margaret who died later, perhaps being buried in the Christ Episcopal Cemetery. Were there any other churches in that area, at that time period? After doing some research, there doesn't seem to be much except wilderness in Huntington County, at that time. Where would I find the above information? Thank You Judy Smith/Colorado

    2. Unlocking Your Past
    3. Dear PAADAMS er's, A few weeks ago we posted an announcement about an event called "Unlocking Your Past 2005", a FREE Family History Event being held in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on March 16th through the 18th. At that time, our website was only partially complete and did not have information about the schedule of speakers, their topics and other event activities. That defect has now been remedied. If you go to the website, look on pages 3 and 4 for the event schedule, and on page 6 are pictures of the 2003 event. If you live in, or have a genealogical interest in: Franklin, Fulton or Adams Counties in Pennsylvania, or Washington County, Maryland I strongly encourage you not to miss-out on this opportunity which comes just once every two years. It's free, and worth every penny of it! Go to: http://home.earthlink.net/~unlockingyourpast/ Sincerely, Steve Whitney, Event Publicity E-mail: [email protected] Phone: (717) 765-8197

    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Hello Folks: Just letting you know that The Perry Historians will once again be holding it's annual Genealogical Workshop at it's library on Saturday, March 12, 2005 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.. We will recess for lunch - which will be on your own. For those persons never at our library to do research, there should be time to do research on your own in the latter-afternoon. Our facility is located just northeast of New Bloomfield, Centre Twp., Perry Co., PA. along Rt. 34 about 2 miles from the square on the right hand side. If you'll be coming from Newport, Oliver Twp., Perry Co. - we are located about 4 miles southwest of Newport on the left hand side along Rt.34. Look forward to seein' you there! 2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Hello Fellow Listers: First may I say I am in no way affiliated with this event. My husband just brought a flier home with info about this event - which sounds very interesting. It is going to be almost in "my backyard"! Donna Heller Zinn ************************* This is what is on the flier: GNAR Great North American Rendezvous 18th Century market Faire and Rifle Frolic April 21-24, 2005 Location: at the corner of Gobbler Knob Rd. & Rt. 997 [Upper Mifflin Twp., Cumberland Co.], near Newville, PA " Our camp represents that of a 1700's trade faire where neighbors, traders, hunters, and indians would gather to trade, buy, and sell supplies such as furs, produce, tools, crafts and other supplies needed for the coming year. It was a social gathering lasting a few days to a few weeks where frontier skills were practiced in competition, stories of high adventure swapped, and news of the events of the colonies, of family and friends were exchanged." They state in their flier that they are a non-profit group whose wish is to share our precious historical past with all who come to visit. They also state that part of their goal is to promote our Colonial history, and to provide our youth with the understanding of their Colonial heritage through demonstrations of life styles, crafts, and trades in preserving their heritage for the enjoyment of future generations. 1. ANNOUNCING: "Unlocking Your Past 2005" Free family history community event
    2. Unlocking Your Past
    3. Dear Sirs: We are trying to spread the word about an upcoming March event here in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. The event is called "Unlocking Your Past 2005" and we would like to invite you to visit our new website: http://home.earthlink.net/~unlockingyourpast/ . As you may remember, in March 2003, the first "Unlocking Your Past" free family history community event opened to the public, and more than 300 visitors came to view the exhibits, hear the speakers, attend classes and get individual help with their genealogical research. The event received considerable attention in local newspapers, and live coverage on, the local NBC-TV station. Several visitors drove hundreds of miles and stayed in local motels to attend. Those who did, said they enjoyed the experience and had a great time. After the success of the first "Unlocking Your Past", the decision was made to try and make it a semi-annual affair. Accordingly, we proudly announce "Unlocking Your Past 2005" our second semi-annual event, which as before, will be open to the public, and completely free! This year, the event is being extended from three to four days. The scheduled dates are: Wednesday through Saturday, March 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. We believe many lessons learned from hosting the first event will help us make "Unlocking Your Past 2005" even better and more rewarding. In particular, suggestions from visitors to the first event helped us learn what family history topics & exhibits were of greatest interest. For example, in 2003 there was overwhelming demand for personal help learning to use computers and the Internet for genealogy research. To better accommodate this demand, we have had broadband Internet installed. Make plans today to attend "Unlocking Your Past 2005." Schedule a day or two off work and get ready to share a memorable experience. 3. Notice Andrew married Margaret Elizabeth Alwine daughter of Samuel Alwine and Susan Stormbaugh/Stormbach Also, Mary Yake, which I think is a sister to John Francis Yake who married Anna "Annie" Mary Alwine. Also, there are Adams County Hemler's married into the Hermanus Arnold and Catharine Allwein descendants. So I think somehow all three wifes are connected some how. The only one I know of is Margaret Alwine. Does anyone have any information on this?
