Listers, I'm new to this list but not to the area. I am searching these surnames in York and Lancaster counties. FEUERSTEIN (Firestone, Feyerstein, Fyerstein, etc.) Nickel (Hans) Feuerstein, b. Mar 25, 1712 in Berg und Thal, Alsace, France, arrived with his family in Philadelphia, PA on Sept 24 1753 aboard the "Peggy". He was born and married in Berg und Thal, Alsace France where most of his children were also born according to the records of the Berg Lutheran Church. In 1760, about the same time his wife died, he acquired a 300 acre tract of land that adjoined the Pigeon Hills in Paradise Township, York Co., PA. After his wife died he remarried to Catherine HACKEN, widow respectively of John KUNTZ (1723-1753) of Heidelberg Township, York Co., PA and of Nicholas HACKEN (died 1758) of York Co., PA. Between 1760 and 1764 Nicholas and Catherine, his second wife, were associated with the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in York Town. NONNENMACHER (Nunnenmacher, Nunnemacher, Nonnemacker, etc.) Nickel FEUERSTEIN's first wife was Anna Catherina NONNENMACHER, b. Aug 02, 1711 in Berg und Thal, Alsace, France, daughter of Marcel Nonnenmacher, also of Berg und Thal, Alsace, France. I don't believe Catherina's family followed her to America but some cousins did. Would like to hear from anyone connected to this line. HOFF (Huff, Hough, deHoff, deHuff) Nickel and Catherina FEUERSTEIN had a daughter named Rosina, b. Mar 13, 1741/ 42 in Berg und Thal, Alsace, France, that married Philip HOFF Jun 01, 1768. He was born about 1743 and I am still looking for his parents. The couple lived in MD. by 1774 and were members of the St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Woodsboro (Woodsborough) near Frederick, MD. The couple later moved to Loudoun Co., VA. where their daughter married George Peter Werts. There was a HOFF family living in Codorus Twp in York Co. and a Hans Adam HOFF had a son Philip, although the Ancestral File at LDS gives his birth ca 1757 although that could be wrong. Adam was born in 1704 which would make him old enough to be my Philip's father. Currently I am looking to find Phillip HOFF's family and am always happy to share info on the others. ADAMS (Adam, Addam, Addams, Adem) I also am looking for evidence of an ADAMS couple that are the parents of Wilhelm (William) ADAMS that lived in Loudoun Co., VA and whose son George married Susannah WERTS the daughter of George Peter WERTS and Rosina HOFF. These ADAMS were Lutheran and not related to the English ADAMS of MA and VA and Philadelphia. Possibly they were from York or Lancaster as well. SCHEURER (Scherer, Scherr, Sherer, Sherrer, Shearer, Sheirer, Shirer, etc.) I also am researching the SCHEURER/SCHERER family in Berks Co., and other derivatives of that name such as SHEARER and SHERRER that also are found in Lancaster and York Co. as well as other areas of PA. Thanks for reading this far and I look forward to sharing info with all of you in the future. Happy Holidaze!
