    3. Dear Listers I have been assisted recently by one of the Assistant Librarians at the York County Heritage Trust located in E Market Street, York, PA. I have been seeking information on a photographer named W.C.Bell who I understand to have been active in Pennsylvania in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. I have been told that there is a publication entitled "York Area Photographers, 1840-1997" which is available through the South Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society. Can anyone tell me whether this society has an e-mail contact address as I would like to purchase the book but would like to ascertain what monies to send to cover costs, including postage ? Equally, if anyone can give me any other information about W.C.Bell, I would appreciate it. I have a photograph of a woman whose identity I do not know. The photograph is stamped with the name of the town Wilkes-Barre on the reverse of the mount, which is presumably where it was taken. The photograph comes from my mother's side of the family, with grand-parental surnames of Perry and Crutchlow. The Perrys came from Nottingham where they were involved in the lace-making trade and there are probable connections to Calais, France in the mid-nineteenth century and maybe to France at an earleier time as the name Perry can be found in french baptismal records. However, I have nothing as such to pin down the connection to Pennsylvania. Thanking you for taking the trouble to read this, Dave Hirons in a very wet and windy Coventry, Warwickshire, England

    3. Hi, I saw your post with the name Crutchlow. I too have a Critchlow in my family. But if you send e-mail to [email protected] she would like to hear from you, I am sure. She is into the Family more than myself. Good luck in your findings. Let her know about your pictures. I am Thelma , she will know how I am. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Hirons" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, December 08, 2000 11:55 AM Subject: [PAYork] York Area Photographers > Dear Listers > > I have been assisted recently by one of the Assistant Librarians at the York County Heritage Trust located in E Market Street, York, PA. 3. I have the York Area Photographers booklet, which list W.C. Bell as having a studio at various addresses in York from 1889 thru 1942. It lists the timeframe for each address. If your photo has an address on the frame, I can look up the dates for you. There is also a list of publications with their prices at http://www.innernet.net/hively/SouthCentralPAGenealogicalSociety.htm Elaine >Dear Listers > >I have been assisted recently by one of the Assistant Librarians at >the York County Heritage Trust located in E Market Street, York, PA. >I have been seeking information on a photographer named W.C.Bell who >I understand to have been active in Pennsylvania in the late 19th >and early 20th Centuries. > >I have been told that there is a publication entitled "York Area >Photographers, 1840-1997" which is available through the South >Central Pennsylvania Genealogical Society.
