THANK YOU so much for your reply; you have the family..... we have the info from Ohio along with a copy from the original records of their marriage in Fairfield Co., Ohio. I had an e-mail from _______ Wilson in regards to this family and he stated that Amanda Hedrick/Hetrick was from Shrewsbury, York Co., Pennsylvania, I tried to e-mail him, however, the mails kept being returned.......... so then looking at the census for 1850, we find Amanda and it matches with the ages on the census records for Ohio. We are trying at this point to find who might have emigrated from Shrewsbury, York County, to either Perry or Fairfield County, Ohio. We have several documents of Amanda or Josephine or Amanda Josephine, the name seemed to vary from one time frame to another. Since all this takes place from after 1850 and before 1860, when she is shown married to James H. Wilson, it is hard to determine what transpired in those years. Again, thanks SO VERY much for your reply. Any hints as to a direction for searching would be appreciated!!!!!!! Jo
Hi, Jo: You're quite welcome. The 1880 census has her name as Amanda J.; the 1860 census has her as Josephine A.; and the 1870 has her as Amanda. I suspect that her name is either Amanda Josephine or Josephine Amanda. I think it's just a matter of what she was called. For example, my grandmother's name is Sarah Louise. She was called Louise and now her name pops up as Louise Sarah, Louisa Sarah, Louise S., Sarah L.... Good luck!
