Most GOCHENOURs and KOCHENOURs in this area descend from one of two immigrants named Jacob GOCHENOUR. These two Jacobs both settled in Lancaster County and were distinguished from one another by being called Jacob or Manheim and I think the other one was Jacob of Conestoga. Anyway, the reference is to the townships in Lancaster County where they settled. Joan
