Steve if you are from this side of the family I have a couple of other pictures of Christoph and Dorthea. Let me hear. The picture would have been taken at the home in Rehmeyer Hollow by where the mill was. Nelson Rehmeyer's house which is still standing is farther west on the road. The McCann's or at least some of them were on the other side of the road at Rehmeyer Hollow I believe. I am down from Maria Magdelena Rehmeyer and George McCann. Kaye
I have sent out the information about the bands to several places and will let you know what I hear. Thanks to everybody for the unbelieveable response, there are great people in York County! Kaye, I come by the way of Christoph's brother Charles Philip/ Wilhelmina Schumacker and their son August Charles? barbara Alice Bowman Their daughter ( my grandmother) Cora Alice Rehmeyer. I know of Nelson's house. I even have a picture of it about the time of his murder, going east on that road next is a cabin type home. Then there is a home and barn and a few other building most of which sit down of the road. Mom told me that this was a Rehmeyer house but I can't remember the first name. Then there is a farm that sits in a turn, never know who used to live here though when I was young a family by the name of Orwig lived there it was then owned by Arthur Hildebrand. The next place on the other side of the road was owned by a Hildebrand. Then was an old stone house back on the other side (north again) that a Neuhaus lived in. That used to be all the houses along what is known as Rehmeyers Hollow Road. Now there are a lot more. I live about a mile from Nelsons house. Cora was raised just east of the intersection of Plank Road and Mt. Airy. She told mom that she used to wake up on cold mornings with snow on her bed where it blew in between the logs. August was I am told, a drunk. Barbara lived to be 101 I can still remember her. Guess I rambled on enough.
