Hello list Camp Security, the last remaining Revolutionary War Prison, is being threatened. I will be attending the meeting with the Springettsbury Township Board of Supervisors on May 24.  This is the day that they will vote on the plan to develop the site.   This past weekend, I met Ron Bissett, who traveled from Canada to see the site, and also talk to people about this dilemma.  It was great to meet him, as we had many things in common.  Both our ancestors were named Andrew; both were our 5th g-grandfathers, and both were at the camp at the same time. We were able to walk the site with a local historian, and was told many things about the history of the site.  It is a shame the site's history is in jeopardy. I am asking anyone with an interest in this site, to attend the meeting on May 24.  If you cannot attend, feel free to email me letters to give to the Board of Supervisors.  You may send them via a Word program, or your regular email.  I did this same thing with Quickel's Church dilemma a few years ago, and we won that battle.  We can do it again.   Imagine the artifacts being destroyed by the construction.  Just last year, a person involved with the developer found a button from the war, while just standing in the field.  There has to be countless others there as well.  I was told the developer now plans to save 2 acres of the site and not develop it.  Very generous of him to save that, even though it will be surrounded by $300,000 homes, and under control by the neighborhood association. Please attend the meeting or email letters to me voicing your concern.  Also, forward this to all other lists you feel would be interested.  Thank you all for your time.
