    3. I am new to this list and am researching the WISSINGER surname. Various spellings of the surname can be found including WISINGER, WISENGER, WESSINGER, WIESINGER, WEISINGER and others. Johann Ludwig WISSINGER (1703-1779) imported on Sept 23, 1740 at Philadelphia. While Johann and his wife, Catharine UNK eventually settled in or near Middletown, Frederick Co., Md. in the 1740's, it is believed that they first settled in the York Co. area of Pa. Johann and Catharine were of the Protestant faith and practiced the Lutheran Faith. They married (location unknown) in 1742 and they had ten children as follows: Melchoir - married Anna Maria UNK; and Anna Christena SEITZ; settled in Philadelphia area Balthasar - married Elizabeth BECK; settled in Frederick Co., Md. Catharine - married George Thomas SCHLEY after 1771; settled in Frederick Co., Md. Ludwig - married Susannah MILLER in 1781; settled in Cambria Co. Pa. Peter - married Maria Susanna WEIL (possible surname) in 1781; and Madelna JANZEN; settled in Frederick Co., Md. Elizabeth - married Christian MILLER in 1791; settled in Frederick Co., Md. George - possibly married Winny ANDERSON in 1792 Jacob - Sophia (possible) Henry (possible, died as infant) Rebecca (possible, died as infant) If you have WISSINGER related information you are willing to share, I would like to hear from you.
