    3. These are the wills I find that contain the name George Stump...none mention the name Christopher. I also checked the spelling Stumpf, which seems to be the more Germanic spelling, and one you need to keep in mind when researding. I didn't find Christopher or George Adam Stump, but did find several Stumpfs in the Kreut Creek (St. James) Lutheran Church inHellam Twp. What I found interesting is that there was also a member whose name was George Adam....could this have been the namesake of "your" George Adam Stump? Hope you find a clue in the wills...wish there had been more. Sandra Ps.... if you would put the ACTUAL subject in the subject slot.....in your case, George Adam Stump, rather than the meaningless lookups, etc........it would make it considerable easier to "browse" the archives and see what the postings are REALLY about. 3. George McCance Jr. b. abt 1758, PA (probably York Co.) was the son of George McCance Sr s/o David McCance/ s/o Andrew McCance of NY/Scotland. The name McCance has been recorded with variations in spelling including Mucance, McKans, etc. (it is thought to have orginated as Cancefield in UK). His father served in the Am. Rev as a Patriot from York Co. PA (according to another researcher). George Jr. moved onto what is now Ohio, and is found on the 1809 Census/tax list for Washington Co. /Jefferson Co. OH, where he purchased land from Malachi Jolly. By 1822, he and his unknown wife, are desceased, when records of a property settlement between his heirs in Jefferson Co. OH appear. I would appreciate any information on the McCance (or variant spelling) surname, in York Co. PA records. Thank you in advance, Pam Ingle

    3. The only thing similar I found in the Bates and Wright book is from Private Register of Rev. Robert Cathcart "George of George Mccann, born ----, baptised February 12, 1797" also "Jno. of Georg. McCann, born ----, baptised Mar 22, 1795" "Sarah of Geo. McCann, born ----, baptised Mar 31, 1799" Pamela Ingle wrote: > George McCance Jr. b. abt 1758, PA (probably York Co.) was the son of George > McCance Sr s/o David McCance/ s/o Andrew McCance of NY/Scotland.
