    3. The name, in any of it's spellings, does not appear in the 1806 tax list for Jefferson county, Ohio. The Jefferson co courthouse contains the following marriages for the surname; McCance, Jane m. Wm. Levingston 11-16-1809 " Manson m. Charlotte Henry 12-7-1809 I would suggest that you check the blue DAR indices, to see if anyone has joined the DAR with your ancestor as their Veteran.....if they have, then, using the information in the front of each index, write for a copy of the form this woman submitted with her documentation; it contains a list of all her proofs for each generation, and might be of great help to you. Also, I'd suggest that you write the NARA and obtain a copy of his military records....this is done on form #86, and will cost &17.00 if they find any...nothing if they don't. York co newspaper extracts show that an Arthur McCann lived in the county and was involved in a lawsuit in Sept. 1798. The only York Co will that contains the surname, any spelling, is; McCance, David 1782...located in Volume F pg. 5 Sandra -----Original Message----- From: Pamela Ingle <[email protected]> To: Sandra Ferguson <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, March 14, 2001 7:54 AM Subject: George McCance b. abt 1758 >George McCance Jr. b. abt 1758, PA (probably York Co.) was the son of George >McCance Sr s/o David McCance/ s/o Andrew McCance of NY/Scotland.
