For Bob in Fla. who responded to my look-up post a few days ago I have sent this to you five times and it keeps coming back as undeliverable, I know you said you would be down a few days to move your PC did you also change your email address? Nancy Bob My Grandfather Franklin Koerner had two brothers John Frederick and Edward James and a sister Anna Mae On my Grandfather' and Edwards Obit it list her as sister Mrs. Edward Rohrbaugh of Codorus Pa. so you can see why I'm at a loss to understand this mystery. Debra, I saw this information before and wondered the same thing. In the 1860 census Delilah Hooey is 60 yrs. old, Margaret is 29. So the ages are close. Of course Delilah and Margaret's last name shoudn't be listed as Low. I don't know anything about Ira Low, except there's an Ira Low buried in Rock Chapel who would be around 56 in 1850. He died at age 79 in 1873. Judy On Apr 20, 2004, at 9:43 AM, D. Hi, Debra, I already have the census info on the Peter b. 1786. Peter and Naomi had 13 children and I have some information about each of them. I haven't been able to find out who Margaret Hooey's father is or when she died or is buried. Margaret Hooey married Peter Free, Jr., in 1851 and as you also found in the 1860 census, the family was living in Shrewsbury Twp.; Delilah Hooey, Margaret's mother was living with them. Margaret dies around 1870 and I can't find Peter, Jr., in the census anywhere in 1870. In 1880 he is in Wells Twp., Fulton Co., PA and dies in 1892 while living in Huntingdon Co. with a new wife and two children. The main thing I'm trying to do now is find ancestors prior to Peter and Naomi. Also since I'm descended through Peter, Jr., I'm interested in pursuing the Hooey line. In a John Low (there are several John Lows) will at Heritage Trust, there is this mention of Margaret Hooey: Book T p. 154 , John Low Sr. 28 Jan 1848, mentions niece July Ann Low, dau of bro. Ashel Low. Also mentions nephew John Low Jr., nephew Lloyd, son of bro. Isaac Low, and Margaret Hooey, dau. of Delilah Hooey(widow) This makes it seem as if Margaret may have been working for John Low or that Margaret and Delilah were relatives. This July Ann is the only name I have for a child of Asahel. If the Acil, Asell, Aseal, etc. that I found in Md. from 1810-1840 is the right person, he had other children. Naomi's birthplace in 1797 is MD. It seems the Frees and Lows had land in York Co. and MD. I have information from Gibson's History of York Co. I know there is some info in Prowell's History of York Co., 1907, which might indicate Conrad is Peter's father. I haven't seen that information. If that is what it says, it conflicts with Hazel Blasser Zellers acoount which indicates Peter is the son of John, who is the son of Conrad. Thanks. Judy Free family On Apr 20, 2004, at 7:49 AM, D. Hi, Nancy: Would you like a copy of the Rohrbaugh page? I can email it to you. Heritage Quest Online indexes by the head of household and by a different surname within a household. I've not located a Frank/Franklin/Frances Corner in 1900-1920. I found a Frank & Mandy Korner and family in 1920 Monroe Co., PA. It shows his age as 45. Are you interested? This might be a descendant. The Asahel I'm seeking information about was born March 6, 1769 and died Feb. 12, 1854. He was married to Keziah Clark, b. 1773, d. 1860. They may have lived most of their lives in MD, but are buried in Shrewsbury twp. Rock Chapel Cemetery. His parents John and Providence Low are buried there also. I have found a Low with variant spellings of Asahel in Md. from 1810 -40. Naomi Low/Lowe was born in Md. Nov. 4, 1797. married Peter Free (b. Oct. 2, 1786, d. Aug. 25, 1860) in 1820, amd moved to Shrewsbury Twp. in 1823, where she lived until she died in 1885. The Frees are buried between Asahel and John and Providence, so I suspect Naomi might be Asahel's daughter, but I haven't been able to confirm it. In Conrad Free's will dated 1814, there are sons John, Peter, and Michael as well as several daughters. According to a file created by Hazel Blasser Zellers that is at the York Heritage Trust, the son John is my ancestor Peter's father. I'm trying to confirm that and trace that line further back. Thanks for responding. On Apr 19, 2004, at 2:25 PM, D. Hi, Jo: You're quite welcome. The 1880 census has her name as Amanda J.; the 1860 census has her as Josephine A.; and the 1870 has her as Amanda. I suspect that her name is either Amanda Josephine or Josephine Amanda. I think it's just a matter of what she was called. For example, my grandmother's name is Sarah Louise. She was called Louise and now her name pops up as Louise Sarah, Louisa Sarah, Louise S., Sarah L.... Good luck!
