My Great-grandparents (to my best knowledge) is Carrie (Witmyer) & Alvin Rhodes. According to a reference, ALVIN E. RHODES & CARRIE A.WITMYER were married 11/1/1903. Does anyone have any additional information about this family? There daughter Caroline Louise Rhodes (later Swartz) is my grandmother. Thanks Bill Heaps
Hi and thanks for responding and for the information you sent. At this point I am not positive but I think Rebecca (Ness)'s parents were John and Sarah. I found Rebecca in the 1850 Springfield, York County census as follows: John - age 53 - Farmer Sarah - age 49 Rebecca - 13 John - 10 Amos - 6 Reuben - 5 Josiah - 1 All born in PA The age for Rebecca is about right so I'm guessing it's her. Hello List, I am new to the York County mailing list. The major surnames I am researching are NESS, WEIDEL (sometimes spelled WEIDLE), WAREAM, SAUCERMAN and DOUGHERTY. I am specifically seeking (my brick wall!) the parents' names of Daniel G. WEIDEL, born October 16, 1829 in Lebanon County. He married Rebecca Jane NESS (born December 25, 1835 in York County) at York, PA on September 16, 1856. These are my paternal gggrandparents. I am looking for a marriage record for Daniel & Rebecca at York. I believe they were Lutheran or Reformed. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I could find such a record? Or if anyone has church marriage records, would you look up those names for me? I would, of course, be glad to share information on any of the above names. Thank you in advance, Sandie Denver, CO
I have some matches and some puzzles..this was from the Purdee papers at the YHSS, I had an Andrew Wallace with the same birthdate as Alexander (April 15, 1699) having a son Alexander 2/7/1776 who married Ann Collins. Then a Grace Hamilton Collins born 1723 and her brother David Hamilton born 1715. This brother David Hamilton's daughter Jannet born 1744 married James Wallace b. 8/1/1743. Do you have this line? The only difference is that it was recorded that James's father was Andrew and not Alexander, but with the same birthdate. Thanks, Sonia Sonia Hillman soniaminton@earthlink.net Why Wait? Move to EarthLink.
Alexander Wallace, B April 15, 1699 in Pertshire, Scotland, Died April of 1767 in Shrewsbury, PA .Married Agnes Gordon Born about 1702 in Pertshire, Scotland, died August 14, 1774 in Hopewell Township, PA. They had the following children: Margaret b Abt 1729 d ? m Archibald Thompson Sarah b Feb. 12, 1732 or 1733, d June 27 1813, m Andrew Proudfit James b Aug 1, 1743 d? m Jennet Hamilton Jean b 1731 d ? m Gavin Alison Elizabeth b 1724 d ? m? I am interested in the Wallace side and any information you have on the Collins side. Also John Collins' mother was Grace Hamilton Collins. Wondered if you had any information on the Hamiltons in this area. I think one was married to a Wallace. Let me know what information on the Collins side you would be interested in. I checked several books and can find no reference to Daniel Ruppert, all I know is there was quite a tendency in the 1700's and early 1800's for people to name children for friends and other family members and also to name children for deceased siblings which makes for interesting work to try to trace these people 200 years later.

Holly Thank you for the input, I checked that possibly out when I was in York County last year Its the same Frederick J Koerner from Saxon Altenberg Is it true or not true that a person had to be in The States three to five years to apply, what year did that change or didn't it. I was thinking that on Nov 4 1860 he didn't have enough time That being said how often did the courts do the intensions to be a citizen ? Once a month, every 6 months, once a year? I was thinking maybe once a year because he applied again Nov 4 1861 both times in Nov on the 4th Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charlie and Holly" <chmartin@zapcom.net> To: <PA-YORK-GEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2004 11:30 AM Subject: Re: [PAYorkGEN] PAYorkGEN] Intention > Hi Nancy: what was your g-grandfather's name? Good Morning list My question about My G-grandfather applying for His "Intention" in 1860 and again in 1861 seam's to have taken on another life. one answer was that maybe he was taken in to the Civil War. But that dose not tell me why he applied two times. If one did not need to be an American Citizen to be in the Civil War And I don't have any information that he was in the War What other reason would there be for him to apply two times Thanks Nancy
